Define your art:

To capture moments, places and feelings. To picture things that someday will make us remember when the memory fails.

What is your idea of happiness?

Chocolate

What determines your future: fate or free will?

Free will, we are what we decide.

What do you respect more, power or wealth?

Power, although I think one thing causes the other.

Are you bound by honor or duty?

An honorable person always accomplishes his duties. I’m not obliged but moved by honor.

Describe Mexico in a word:

Gallant

What do you say when you talk about Mexico?

For those who like to travel, It will take more time to travel through Mexico than to the entire world.

If you didn’t live in Mexico, where would you? Or why do you live in Mexico?

I’ve always believed that there’s no way to compare countries. They just offer different things. When I was a teenager I lived in Canada and the majority of my friends were from other parts of the world. It was a great experience to deal with different cultures, religions and traditions and I discovered the truth in the saying “The farer from the relatives and the sun, the better” If I was able I would return to Canada and probably, before two winters pass, I would be back in Mexico.

What national icon inspires you most, and why?

The national anthem because it is not only has an exquisite melody, but the letter also defines what the Mexican nationalism was and it generated national unity. Sometimes I feel that our values have been fading through the pass of time and I consider the anthem is the only thing that will remind us our past every time we sing it.

What is your favorite news source?

The Internet because although it has its disadvantages we can get high quality information if we know how to search for it. In my opinion the tv and printed media have been corrupted and aren’t trustable anymore.

The best Mexican book:

I don’t know if we can define it as Mexican but definitely the Story of the New Spain Conquest by Bernal Diaz del Castillo would be my first option. That book ignited my passion for the Mexican history.

Describe a perfect Mexican food:

My grandmother’s cochinita pibil with handmade blue tortillas, molcajete sauce and a glass of horchata or Jamaica water. No one cooks better than Mexican grandmothers!

What makes a country great?

Its history. From it we learn who we are, our strengths and weakness and if we analyze our mistakes from the past we can try to avoid them in the future and define where are we going. After all, it is said that the history is condemned to be repeated.

What is the biggest challenge facing Mexico now?

Between the decentralized system of government, the social disinterest and bureaucracy it is hard to choose.
